食べる/Fine Dining - Pottery (Kutani)

From 1655 to 1710, the Daishoji Clan in Kutani village became widely known for its fine porcelain wares. ‘Kutani-yaki’ was known for its heavy use of five hues such as navy, purple, yellow, green and red on a unique blue base. The unique colors are drawn by hand to form bold line drawings of nature, landscapes and Japanese pastoral life. Until it was resumed in 1810, production had ceased for nearly a century. In 1975, ‘Kutani Porcelain’ was designated as a national craft.
